Apple Honey Glazed Pork Chops

Apple Honey Pork Chops

Apple Honey Pork Chops

Old time traditions call for serving apples – in some way – with pork. Growing up my grandmother always served apple sauce with roast pork which was one of her regular Sunday dinners. I had seen Apple Honey Pork Chops done like this in a restaurant that I had worked at a long time ago. So I threw it together. It was quick, easy and it turned out real good. You will like it.

  • Olive oil
  • 2 pork chops – either boneless or bone in works
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder – optional
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 small apple – peeled and sliced

And here is how to quickly and easily cook up your Apple Honey Pork Chops

Put a skillet on at medium high and swirl in just enough olive oil to coat the bottom. While the skillet is heating up sprinkle the pork chops with salt and pepper. We like garlic powder along with the salt and pepper but that’s up to you.

Now put them into the skillet and cook them about three minutes a side, depending on their thickness. While the pork chops are cooking peel and slice up the apple. When the chops are leaking out some juices or they read 145° F on a meat thermometer  move them to a dish that will catch the drippings.

dish for the drippings

With a wooden spoon scrap the bits left by the chops off of the bottom of the skillet. Add the butter and the honey to the skillet and stir them together as the butter melts. Then put in the apple slices.

Apple slices in the skillet

When the apple slices have softened up a little put the pork chops back into the skillet and turn the over a few times as they heat back up.

Then serve it up and top the chops with the apple slices, butter and honey.
