Tuna Steak Dinner
This Tuna Steak Dinner cooks fast and it’s a nice breakaway from the usual weeknight dinners. AND, it’s very good for you. There are lots of different ways to cook them and lots of different flavors to add to jazz them up a little. Here’s what we did tonight and it worked out real good.
Today’s Tip
Hold back half of the salt that the recipe calls for and “taste as you go”. Salt adds it’s flavor immediately so you can add salt as needed to finish the dish the way that you and your gang like it. It’s a lot easier to add salt then it is to “unsalt” something.
Ingredients
These amounts are for two servings. To change all of the amounts scroll down to the recipe card under this post and there you can change all of the amounts with one click. You can also switch them to metric.
- olive oil
- 2 Tuna steaks
- 1 fresh lemon
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1/2 tsp. dried dill weed
- 12/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Lets put together our Tuna Steak Dinner
Whatever your veggies and carbs are going to be get them going before you start on the Tuna Steaks. The tuna will not take very long at all to cook. I made our Caprese Salad before starting anything else. We had microwave “baked” potatoes tonight and I put them in the microwave just before I put the tuna steaks in the skillet.
Put a skillet on at medium high and add just a light drizzle of olive oil and the butter.
Put the Tuna Steaks in a bowl and add all of the rest of the ingredients.
Turn them over a couple of times to get the steaks covered with all of the good stuff.
When the butter has stopped foaming put the steaks and all of the other ingredients from the bowl into the skillet and cook up your tuna. Spoon some of the liquid on to the steaks as they cook.
Some people like it almost raw in the middle and some like it totally cooked all the way through. We like it cooked until is starting to get firm and seared on the outside but still a little pink on the inside. A finger poke will tell you how done it is.
When it is cooked the way that YOU want it serve up your Tuna Steak Dinner. Spoon some of the liquid from the skillet on the steaks before you serve them.
