Lemon Garlic Butter Shrimp

Buy large shrimp that have already been shelled, deveined and cleaned. Then you will have your easy Lemon Garlic Butter Shrimp dinner on the table real fast. We always have it with linguini or spaghetti. With a quick simple salad and some bread it makes for a great weeknight dinner or even for a Sunday sit down dinner with guests.

Ingredients

These amounts are for 2 servings. If you want different servings amounts scroll down to the recipe card that is below this posting. There you can change the number of servings and it will change all of the amounts of all the ingredients. Also you can switch the amounts to metric.

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) of butter
  • 4  Large cloves Garlic – chopped
  • 10 – 12 large shrimp – peeled and deveined 
  • salt and pepper to taste – go light on the salt, the shrimp lived in salt water so they bring some their own
  • 1/2 fresh lemon – or more if you want
  • 1 tablespoon water – if you are also cooking some pasta use that water
  • fresh chopped parsley – or dried -for garnish

 

Here’s how to cook up your Lemon Garlic Butter Shrimp

 

Put a large skillet on the stove at medium heat. Add 1/2 of the butter and all of the garlic. Cook until the garlic just starts to become fragrant. About a minute to a minute and a half.

Add the shrimp and  the rest  of the butter. Cook them about 2 minutes a side so that they are pink but not cooked all the way through.

Add  the lemon juice and the water. Stir it all together and cook until the shrimp are cooked all the way through. When they are firm and the backs where the vein was is white not grey, they are ready. 

Shrimp the skillet

Garnish with some grated parmesan, chopped fresh  parsley or dried parsley flakes and serve with some pasta or rice.
