Easy Steak Pizzaiola

Easy Steak Pizzaiola

There a ton of different ways to do Steak Pizzaiola. Every cook does it a little bit (or a lot) differently. Traditionally it is just steak cooked in a tomato sauce. I’ve tried it different ways but always comeback this old traditional method. It only takes about twenty minutes and it’s real good. Make it once and I’ll bet that it becomes a regular at your house.

  • olive oil
  • 1 large New York strip steak – about 12- 14 oz. – or any cut of steak that you prefer.
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic – chopped
  • 2 cups marinara sauce or canned roma tomatoes or chopped fresh roma tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley flakes or 2 tsp. chopped fresh
  • 1 splash red wine – or 2

Here is how to make your Easy Steak Pizzaiola

Put your skillet on at medium heat and eyeball just enough olive oil to coat the bottom . If your steaks are already cut into about 1/2 inch thickness that is good. If not just lay the steak flat, hold it down with the palm of your hand and slice it in half horizontally. You want them to be about half as thick as normal for a steak.

Add  the steaks and the garlic to the skillet and just sear them on both sides.

Here’s our recipe for our homemade marinara sauce. If you don’t have any marinara sauce on hand you can go with canned Roma tomatoes or even some fresh Roma tomatoes chopped up. Some chopped or dried parsley. And a splash or 2 of red wine.

Remove the steak and top it with the sauce from the skillet and serve it up! With some homemade bread and yes, we finished off that bottle of chianti that we splashed in the sauce.
