Quick Ham Steak Dinner
We have ham in lots of different ways. On Easter as a whole ham slow baked in the oven with cloves and pineapple rings on top. And regularly as a Quick Ham Steak Dinner. It gets ready real quick and works great for a busy weeknight. Tonight we had it with brown sugar and apple gravy on top. Your family will love it.

Ingredients
These amounts are for 4 servings. If you want different servings amounts scroll down to the recipe card that is below this posting. There you can change the number of servings and it will change all of the amounts of all the ingredients.
- olive oil
- 4 tbsp. (1/2 stick) butter – 2 tbsp. for cooking the ham – 2 for sautéing the apple topping
- 1 large slice of ham about 3/8 inch thick. (
- 1 small apple cut into about 1/2″ cubes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
And here’s how to easily put together your Quick Ham Steak Dinner
Put a large skillet on at medium heat. Eyeball enough olive oil to just coat the bottom the skillet. And add 2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) of butter. Trim the fat off the slice of ham.
And cut it into 4 portions. Because of the bone some portions might wind up consisting of more than one piece of ham.
Put the ham into the skillet and cook for about one and a half to two minutes a side and moving them around to get them coated with the butter and oil.
While the ham is in the skillet dice the apple into about 1/2inch cubes.
Move the ham to a dish that will catch the drippings.
Add the rest of the butter, the brown sugar and the apple pieces to the skillet.
Move the apple cubes around as they soften up. And when they are starting to darken…..
…push them to the outside edge of the skillet and put the ham back in.
And heat the ham back up turning them over a couple of times getting them coated with that tasty butter and brown sugar mixture.
Now put the steaks on the serving dishes and top them with apple pieces and the liquid from the skillet.
I “baked” some sweet potatoes in the microwave while the skillet business was going on. Sweet potatoes and ham are a real good combo.
