128 oz, can Roma tomatoesimported from Italy. We always use Cento brand San Marzano tomatoes.
1med.onionpeeled and cut in half
5tbsp.butter

Instructions
Crush by hand or cut up the tomatoes. Add the tomatoes and their juice to a sauce pan. Add the butter, onion and salt. Cook at a slow but steady simmer for 45 minutes, or until the fat floats free from the tomato and rises to the top of the sauce. . Stir from time to time mashing any large piece of tomato in the pan with the back of a wooden spoon.
Taste and add salt if needed. Discard the onion before tossing the sauce with the pasta. Enjoy it! We sure did!
